I’ve lost you, now what do I do?
I feel so empty without you.
E’en though you are right by my side,
and always be my blushing bride,
you’re slowly slipping far away.
I hold your hand and beg you stay.

Another man? That’s not the case,
there’s something else that takes my place.
A malady that takes your mind,
then plays with it, leaves it behind.
Your mind now plays sad tricks on you –
and you’re not sure what is not true.

Most times you are aware, but then –
sometimes you drift away again,
to places only seen by you.
Come back to me, I’ll lead you through.
Return my love, I beg you stay …
just be with me for one more day.

    Hi Barb

It’s a very nice poem and a sad one this time. I can feel the loneliness when I read it and feel sorry for them. It must be hard to feel that way.

    Hi Barb

You are really good at these story poems and you also inspire me to write more, which I’ll try to do.

On the topic… It crazy the way people change so much and seem to forget what’s important to them, even if only briefly. You covered it well here and I have no corrections to point out.

    Well done

    Hello, Barb

A sad but all too often story behind this poem. Life can certainly get tough when the mind plays tricks with our loved ones… I’ve been there with mine.

I have a small suggestions… I found it a bit bumpy in parts, but all in all well written. I’d remove the “right” from line 3. Hope that helps.
