Skulls of Vesuvius:- ‘The Legend Of Clem’
(Hey, we’ve been ripped off by The Beverly Hillbillies”)

Verse:
Come listen to a story ‘bout a man named Clem,
He’s a living legend from the town of old Pipe Stem
Was falling-down drunk the day he won the lottery,
So he packed up his brood and he moved to Beverly

Pre Chorus:
Hills, that is, with movie stars,
What the hell? And sushi bars?

Verse II:
He don’t remember how but he’s rich beyond belief,
So he thought to himself, “I’ll turn me over a new leaf”
So he applied for a job highing that old high tech
But they just laughed, reality took him by the neck

Pre Chorus:
“Sum bitches,” that’s what they were,
“Ya’ll can kiss my ass, that’s fer sure!”

Chorus:
‘The Legend Of Clem,’ will be a radio hit
“Ya’ll better listen, sum bitches, or ya’ll get!
The legend of Clem grows taller every day
He needs sumpin to do, there’s gotta be a way

Verse III:
He soon found out they all were bastards here,
He longed for his back forty and ice-cold beer
So he packed up and returned to that town called Stem,
Pipe, if you must know, and that’s the legend of Clem

    Wow.

You did a wonderful job with this one. The best part is that most of us who grew up in the sixties are very familiar with this tune, and the story behind it.

    Great job of parody,

    Hi Mike

I’m so glad that I’m back from the mine where I work for a couple of days and caught up on your posts. You are a very funny man and this is fabulous. So, a man named Clem can’t cut it in the big smoke, huh? I read this to the tune of the Beverly Hillbillys and it’s a hoot.
