Raping the bush seems to be what people like to do
Animals and birds are homeless or maybe in a zoo,
Pines and palms drop at the noisy chainsaw’s cut
I don’t understand why and it’s wrenching at my gut.
Nobody seems to care that our planet will soon die
Giant, preventable fires sending smoke into the sky
Threatening lives of people, plus all creatures great and small,
Havoc being reaped to the young trees and the tall
Even our supposed leaders never play it by the book.
Before too long trees will be gone; just desert where we look
Unless we make a stand, as one, the earth will be no more
So, join together, say our thoughts, like we never have before
Hopefully, “leaders” hear us as we’re breaking down their doors.
