My Two Boys

What can I say about my sons
that’s not been said before?
They’re my delight, I love them so,
but I must tell you more.

So young they were when their dad died,
with one still not a teen.
Yet they stood strong and with their mum;
no one would come between.

Each standing tall both held my hands
I couldn’t hide my pride;
we were one heart that beat for three,
we stood there side by side.

We said ‘goodbye’, we’d miss him so,
our grief just overflowed.
I thanked our Lord for my two boys
that on me He’d bestowed.

The years passed by and now they’re dads
with children of their own.
I know their father will look down
with pride on how they’ve grown.

    Hi Sandra

    Life can be so hard sometimes. I thought it was on here, but it seems the whole world is the same. It’s good to see you and your two boys stayed strong and together you made the best of the badness. Very good poem and I’m sorry for your loss.

    Hi Sandra

    Lovely work that sends your pride through to the reader. There is nothing like teamwork and “one heart beating for three” sums it up perfectly and you must be a proud grand mother as well, I’d imagine.

    I can’t see anything that should be changed, it’s perfect.

    Hello, Sandra

    A very touching piece, my friend and wonderfully written with no corrections needed to I can see.

    We go through our ups, downs and loses in this life and if we can come out the other side, (so to speak) with pride and our heads held high we’ve done well, as you have with this wonderful tribute.
