My Two Boys

What can I say about my sons
that’s not been said before?
They’re my delight, I love them so,
but I must tell you more.

So young they were when their dad died,
with one still not a teen.
Yet they stood strong and with their mum;
no one would come between.

Each standing tall both held my hands
I couldn’t hide my pride;
we were one heart that beat for three,
we stood there side by side.

We said ‘goodbye’, we’d miss him so,
our grief just overflowed.
I thanked our Lord for my two boys
that on me He’d bestowed.

The years passed by and now they’re dads
with children of their own.
I know their father will look down
with pride on how they’ve grown.

Sandra Stoner-Mitchell
I started out as a poet, my first love. It was while doing this that I began taking an interest in children's stories, written in rhyme. When I had my first book, Hedgerow Capers, snapped up by a publisher, I was elated. I now have seven children's books published.
